Album Review

Beyonce devoted half of the tracks on this double-disc set to her feisty alter ego Sasha Fierce (think “Single Ladies”). But, it’s the classic, more timeless R&B songs on the “I Am” portion of the album that seem like a much-welcomed stretch for the singer. Lead single “If I Were a Boy” is the first taste of Beyonce’s newfound love for powerful ballads, as she croons about reversing gender roles. On “Halo” she sings in a lower register than usual over big drums and an epic piano pattern and belts emotively (“I don’t want a broken heart/And I don’t want to play the broken-hearted girl”) on the Babyface-penned “Broken-Hearted Girl.” Songs like “Video Phone,” with its repetitive, vibrating beat, and the thumping “Diva,” a collaboration with Sean Garrett, don’t break new ground but more than provide the radio-ready dance tracks for which Beyonce, er, Sasha Fierce, is beloved.

Shes Old!!!! Nude photo of Madonna goes for $37,500

A nude photograph of pop singer Madonna was sold for $37,500 Thursday afternoon at a Christie's Art House auction.

The photo, originally expected to go for between $10,000 and $15,000, was purchased for more than double its original estimated selling price, a Christie's spokesperson confirmed. The 13-inch by 8 5/8-inch framed photograph was purchased by an anonymous bidder over the phone.

The full frontal photograph was one of several taken by American photographer Lee Friedlander in 1979. Madonna, then a cash-strapped student, received $25 for the entire photo shoot.

Most of the pictures from the shoot were ultimately featured in Playboy magazine in 1985.

Now I wasn't going to say anything but.... Chris Brown the new Ike Turner??

Prosecutors said Tuesday they want more evidence from police before determining whether to press charges against Chris Brown, but the details surrounding the case continue to grow more and more damning for the 19-year-old singer.

Earlier reports claim that pop singer Rihanna, the 20-year-old girlfriend and alleged victim of Brown’s alleged attack, suffered “horrific” injuries including bite marks, major contusions on her face, a split lip and a bloody nose.

But a new report from E! news is far more chilling, with Rihanna allegedly telling police that Brown choked her while threatening to kill her before she lost consciousness.

Brown was arrested Sunday night after surrendering to police, who sought the 19-year-old singer when a woman claimed she had been attacked by Brown during a fight.

When the fight escalated, Brown allegedly pulled over to the side of the road in L.A. Rihanna then reportedly grabbed the keys and tossed them out of the window.

Brown tried to find the keys, according to the report, but became enraged when he couldn’t. He returned to the car and then allegedly put his hands around her neck screaming “I’m going to kill you!”

Rihanna reportedly told police that she lost consciousness temporarily, and when she awoke, Brown was gone.

There have been conflicting reports as to who placed the 911 call, attributing it to Rihanna and an unnamed passerby.

According to several news sources, police took photos of Rihanna’s injuries at the scene, which would likely be used as evidence in a case against Brown.

Brown was booked Sunday on suspicion of making a criminal threat, a felony. Police have said that prosecutors would determine what charges, if any, were warranted.

The district attorney's kicking the case back to police could signal that prosecutors are seeking to build stronger charges against Brown; or it could mean the current evidence is too flimsy or has holes that would drop it to a misdemeanor or make it go away altogether, Loyola University law professor Stan Goldman said.

Brown remains free on $50,000 bail.

The allegations have at least momentarily tarnished Brown's squeaky-clean image. Chewing gum maker Wrigley has suspended ad campaigns featuring the singer.

WAKS-FM, a Cleveland-area radio station has stopped playing Brown's music until the allegations are resolved after outraged listeners called to criticize the singer. Stations in Pittsburgh and Indianapolis also reportedly pulled Brown's music.

Brown has withdrawn from public appearances in Phoenix scheduled for this weekend before the NBA All-Star game. Rihanna on Tuesday postponed a planned concert in Malaysia.

Brown and Rihanna, whose real name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, skipped planned performances at Sunday's Grammy Awards, leaving fellow recording artists to try to make sense of the allegations.

Kanye West, who toured with Rihanna, said on Ryan Seacrest's morning radio show Tuesday morning that the reports of abuse were "devastating."

"I feel like, just as a person, I don't care how famous she is or even if she just worked at McDonald's, that should never happen," West said on the show, which is broadcast on KIIS-FM in Los Angeles. "It should never come to that place."

When are people going to learn that plastic surgery is not the way to go!!

Apparently Kanye Wests' mother has taught us nothing about plastic surgery... Usher's dog, i mean wife has just been stabilized
after complications during surgery in South America, a representative for the singer confirmed to Access Hollywood Monday.

“Tameka Foster is in stable condition after suffering complications from routine surgery in Brazil,” Usher’s rep said in a statement. “Her husband Usher is with her at the hospital. No further details will be released, and the family requests privacy at this difficult time.”

Dr. Gabriel Hunt, a neurosurgeon with Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, arrived in Brazil Sunday.

Monicas back!

Still Standing is the upcoming sixth studio album by Monica. Iit is currently scheduled for a release in the first quarter of 2009. Originally titled Lessons Learned Monica decided to change the project recently as she felt that Still Standing was more appropriate for the body of work that she and Bryan Cox pulled off. Although the debut episode of the reality television show Monica: The Single on Peachtree TV was filmed to promote the release of the album's leading single, no track has been picked yet, as the label and the singer were not in agreement with the album's title track "Still Standing" becoming the first single. As a result, Monica set up additional sessions with longtime contributor Missy Elliott in hopes to find a new single.

Unexpected... This Chick means business!!

Dont sleep on her!!! Mathew Knowles confirmed in late 2008 that a 2-disc re-release of the album would be released outside of the U.S. in Spring 2009 to co-incide with the Unexpected Tour. The album is said to have 5 new songs as well as new versions of "Hungover" (which will feature Canadian Rapper Drake AKA Aubrey Graham) and Private Party. The second disc will feature rare remixes, leftover tracks and a Ballad Version of "Hello Heartbreak" featuring John Legend.
Michelle confirmed in a video blog that she and a production team are putting the finishing touches on a remixed version of the album due out later this year in the U.S. Michelle stated that the remix album will not contain any remixes that have previously been heard and might contain some of the new songs that are on the Platinum Edition.
No dates for either CD have been released, however, the Platinum Edition is available for pre-order on iTunes in Japan and Australia. So look out for her ya'll.
